Founded in 1947 the club was among the first teams to develop a sailing program in the Midwest. The club was founded to promote both recreational and racing sailing, and that principle is followed to this day. The Sailing Club competes in regattas organized by the Midwestern Collegiate Sailing Association and is also engaged in recreational sailing purely for enjoyment.
We continue to be self-supportive in our endeavors. Currently we participate in many fund raising opportunities to supplement our membership dues. As a result, the club was able to purchase 6 used boats in 1998, bringing our fleet to 10 Flying Juniors. More recently, we were able to purchase 10 new sets of sails for our boats.
